The 2023 is Cabernet dominant with 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. As ever, there is also an assertive nod to regional tradition, with 20% of Sangiovese. The resulting wine is supremely polished, as you would expect from this address, but with a chiselled and complex backbone of tannins and acidity. Cool, svelte black fruits and a long, impressive, sapid finish with good powdery grip and an enduring persistence. This already displays all the hallmarks of a truly great Solaia. It seems the 2023 comparisons to 2021 and 2016 are more than fair. This will undoubtedly blossom beautifully over the next two decades.
